Purpose in the Process

3 minute guided scripture meditation and reflection: to identify the empty places of our soul, our thirsts and longings, and fill it with the living water of God’s truth.

Scripture: 1 Peter 5:10

“ And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast”

Meditate and Receive:

Father,

I’m refreshed remembering to call you the “God of all grace”. Grace is your nature toward me, and I want to focus my mind on the many graces you’ve gifted me.

I pause now to thank you for these gifts of grace. (Actually name these moments and memories)

I admit that there are days when it feels like You have forgotten me, or worse abandoned me, because this struggle has gone on for so long. My prayers have grown weary from waiting, and my hope hardly has a heartbeat.

I admit I wonder just how much longer it will all go on. I want the easy, quick answer to my prayers.

Thank you for reminding me that there is purpose in this process and that I am not alone. I see the words, “He himself will restore you…” I am not alone through any of this.

YOU are my strength. YOU are my hope.

Help me stay fixed on Your promises, and your purposes. Help me see your purposes while I wait for your promises.

Remind me to keep my hope tied to YOU, and You alone.

Reflect

  • How are your struggles and disappointments impacting your relationship with God?

  • What process might God have you walking through that is leading toward fulfilling His promise in you?

  • How does knowing that there is purpose in suffering help re-shape your perspective? Consider reading James 1:2-4 to go deeper.
